Groundwork Wrexham, the first Groundwork Trust in North Wales, was set up in 1991. Working in close partnership with the local authority, businesses and a wide range of environmental groups and organisations, we quickly established ourselves as a leading organisation in the field of environmental regeneration.
In 2001, we extended our operation into the bordering county of Flintshire. We also have a remit to work on a project-by-project basis in the county of Denbighshire.
In 14 years since formation, the Trust has grown significantly and now employs 30 staff. Our professional workforce includes experienced fundraising and finance managers, community development officers, environmental education officers, landscape architects and health and environmental trainers. With this diverse range of skills we deliver many projects, working with and engaging local people to improve communities, the environment and people’s health and to ensure individuals, communities and businesses prosper.
As a charity and company limited by guarantee, we are actively supported by our Board of Trustees, which is composed of members from the public, private and voluntary sectors.
We receive core funding from Wrexham County Borough Council, Flintshire County Council, the Welsh Assembly Government and Airbus UK. Project work is supported through grant-giving organisations, private sector sponsorship and from other public sector funding streams.
